Not for Profit News Network of Durham Region is Expanding

Durham Region, Ontario – The Not for Profit News Network of Durham Region is quickly expanding in the number of organizations taking part in the network. Community based groups, non for profit, and charitable organizations help each other out by sharing each others news and events through their social media channels.

Only one month old, the network has over ten organizations taking part.

The Not for Profit News Network of Durham Region was created by Robert MacArthur. Robert has been on the board of numerous organizations and got the idea while watching organizations present at the Rotary Club of Ajax's weekly lunch meeting. From these meetings, Robert got the idea to create a community based cable show, called Helping Durham Region, that interviews community groups and organizations. To help build on the exposure the show gives organizations, the Not for Profit News Network of Durham Region was created.

“We have a lot of great organizations and groups that help Durham Region residents,” says MacArthur, “but these organizations really have a hard time getting the word out on what they do, and what residents can do for them. When organizations cross promote each others events and news, they all share and they all win.”

Currently, the Not for Profit News Network of Durham Region shares the organizations news and events on a blog, and through Facebook and Twitter. There is no cost for organizations to become part of the network. Those interested in the information can visit the blog at www.nfpnndurham.org.

Organizations that are interested in joining the network can contact Robert MacArthur through his web site at www.robmac.org.
