Press Release – For Immediate Release

Cultivate Festival Hosts Fundraiser for Ukrainian Refugee Aid at Capitol Theatre

Port Hope, ON – On Sunday, May 22nd, 2022 the Cultivate Festival will hold a fundraiser at the Capitol Theatre for ONLY FARE, a Ukrainian Refugee Aid Fund, as part of the LAUNCH! Festival.

Held at the Capitol Theatre in Port Hope from 7pm to 11pm, entertainment will be provided by the Lemon Bucket Orchestra and friends. There will also be custom cocktails by local mixologist, Wes Galloway, and an art auction that will include original works from artists throughout Northumberland County including Vera Litnkski, Paul Bailey, Melanie Day and more. All in support of ONLY FARE.

“Cultivate Community is all about giving back where you can,” says Executive Director Jeff Bray. “At times it’s hard to imagine exactly how we can contribute to an issue as big as the war on Ukraine. Our friends in the Lemon Bucket Orchestra were working hard on their own fundraising and we saw an opportunity to both support them and entertain and engage the community,” he added.

ONLY FARE was started by Lemon Bucket front man, Mark Marczyk and Ukrainian photographer, Peter Andrew Lustyk.

Cultivate Community actively strengthens regional communities by engaging local citizens in the discovery and celebration of arts and culture via grassroots leadership, creative partnerships and innovative artistic programming.

Their flagship, award winning, event, Cultivate Festival, arrived on the scene in 2015 and has been growing with the community ever since. Built on the values of sustainability, equity and inclusion, Cultivate Festival prides itself on celebrating what’s happening in our own backyard in a world class way.

This event was made possible by funding from the provincial and federal government grants to support arts and culture during COVID, specifically, the ReConnect Ontario Fund and the Support for Workers in Live Arts and Music Stream through Canadian Heritage.

Through the generous sponsorship from the Rotary Club of Port Hope, children are free for this event.
